Cast stone is a cost effective man made limestone and is a preferred aesthetic building material. It is made from fine and coarse aggregates, Portland cement, mineral oxide color pigments, chemical admixtures and water. Cast stone products are available in almost any color, and give the appearance of a diversity of natural building stones including limestone, granite, slate, travertine or marble. There is a difference between cast stone and quarried stones in three ways; cost, time and durability.
While cutting quarried stone parts with intricate designs the same amount of time used is the same to the next one and the next and so on until you get enough parts. On the other hand once the original cast stone design work is complete on the first stone produced, the time is radically reduced on all following cast stone designs produced. Since the speed and production of additional pieces becomes substantially easy the cost is also considerably low as well. Cast stone products are durable compared to natural limestone, owing to the process by which they are made. The man made cast stone is hand forged this way it gains strength and durability eliminating the air pockets that are common in natural stone.
